Santa Barbara Cont (with pics)

Posted in , ,

So I thought that maybe a few of you might like to see a couple pics from the weekend (Kristy)

So here are a few...I don't take many pictures, but my wife won't put the camera down...I just pulled out a few from the hotel and the ocean and the mission..

Hope you enjoy

This is the front of the beautiful Biltmore...

This is the courtyard...You could smell the Jasmine wherever you walked..

A really cool tree in the courtyard...It was huge and old and gnarled...We loved it..

These are just a couple of shots of the room...There were more somewhere, but I couldn't find them...The wife really enjoyed the dual sinks in the bathroom (guess I'm a sink hog)

When I looked across the street this was the view..

Down the street from the hotel..

If you looked one way you saw this..

If you looked the other we found this.. (very cool)

Those pictures are great. I visited Santa Barbara in 2006 when on a road trip from San Francisco to LA. I found it to be a very pleasant place but I noticed that it did seem very "protected" compared to LA, I guess the residents pay more taxes. This was most obvious when stumbling from one bar to another, my friends and I were approached by a homeless man, as we went to give him some money the local police pulled up and dragged him away. We didn't know why, he may have committed a crime earlier in the night, but it looked very much like they were keeping "undesirables" away from tourists. That seemed abhorrent to me.

Aside from that incident though, the rest of my time there was very enjoyable.

Wow. Makes me wonder why in the hell I live on the east coast. Oh yeah, family, that's right.

Tomorrow is the big day bro!

TGG..there are indeed a huge group of homeless in the area, and they are kept at arms length from most of the establishments. It's definitely different from the rest of the California Coastline.

Ian..You could always move the rest of the family too :) On second thought believe me, this is a big plus but there are far too many on the minus side to make this a selling point..Nice to visit..

Joe. That is one of the few reasons we haven't left the state yet.

AS..Lol..gotta admit the sun shining in mid January is awesome.. especially when it's only like 50 degrees to boot.

Samantha ...Visiting the area is awesome and I promise that you will have some great memories from it.. You should consider it..
